Farrell's Has Given Me A Second Chance !

My 3-year anniversary as a member of Farrell’s Extreme Bodyshaping is coming up and I can’t imagine what I would be like today without it! Before I joined  I had heard several people talking about the program and saw their results but I just didn’t make the commitment. I finally joined when a close friend convinced me to join with her and I’ve been an active member ever since!

I had tried other programs in the past and even planned a dedicated a workout room when we built our home.  I had some success with other programs but it was always only temporary.  I tended to let work or the kids’ activities  derail me from a consistent schedule and time for myself.  I’ve have made it through raising four children, a full time career, supporting my husband and hobby farming.  I workout first thing in the morning at 5 am. This is ideal for me since there is no chance for me to talk myself out of it through the day or get distracted by the list of things I have to do when I get home.  Like any lifestyle change, it is difficult at first. Eventually it becomes a habit and you feel out of sorts when you miss class.  The other members  are awesome and you get used to seeing them every day.  They will keep you honest when they haven’t seen you in a while.

The nutrition plan is simple and easy to manage.  All you have to do is stick to it!  The easiest thing I’ve found to keep me on the right path is to make it a family initiative.  Since I started the program we always have fruits and vegetables in the house, we’ve cut out soda and everyone in my household makes better choices.  In the beginning it was about losing weight and inches, now it’s about feeling better when you are eating clean.  You’ll realize how sluggish you feel when not following the nutrition program and you can’t wait to get back to clean eating.

For me the Farrell’s program is about overall health rather than inches and pounds.  I was born with a birth defect that negatively impacted my heart and kept me from certain activities; gym class, running, working out, mowing my lawn and pregnancy even put a strain on my heart.  After my initial open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve I waited 10 years to run my first 5K and I realized how I hadn’t been using the opportunities I had been given.  I ran several races after that and took fitness more seriously. My second valve replacement was in November of 2010.  During one of my post-operative appointments my cardiologist told me that my heart functions more efficiently during exercise so I have committed myself to keep the momentum going and have made exercise an important part of life.  Not everyone has luck on their side like me but if you do please take advantage of it to honor yourself and for those that may not be given a second chance .

My last bit of advice for those that have considered joining or thinking about coming back--Don’t wait!  You’re keeping yourself from being the best you that you can be!

Thank you Farrell’s for giving me a program that is challenging, fits into my schedule and helps me utilize my second chance for an active lifestyle!
